“It all started with a little party in our garage"

In 2017 Shannon met Mike Dorman, the Founder of Military Missions in Action (MMIA) and led a large-scale give back event at Cisco Systems in Research Triangle Park, NC where hundreds of volunteers packaged and donated over 400 kitchen and bath kits for homeless veterans in NC. After that successful event Mike asked Shannon to join his team. Shannon served on the board of MMIA as the Secretary from 2017 to 2019.

2017-2019 Military Missions in Action

In 2017 Shannon and her husband Geoff decided to host a St Patrick's Day Party at their house for a few friends. She made Guinness Stew and everyone brought an appetizer.

In 2018, Shannon and Geoff transformed their house party into a FUNdraiser benefiting Military Missions in Action (MMIA). They added a DJ, small corn hole tournament and a few raffle prizes. They called the event the St Patrick’s Day Party with a Purpose and with the help of her Cisco matching Shannon and Geoff raised $4500 in one night!

In 2019 the event was even bigger with over 150 people attending and raised $7400 for Veterans in NC.

2023 Mike Lange & AFTD

In March 2023, Shannon and handful of passionate volunteers scaled the fundraiser from a private party with 150 attendees to a public event with 300+ attendees hosting a St Patrick's Day Party with a Purpose at the Springdale Area Recreation Club (SARC) in memory of friend Michael Lange benefiting The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD). The event was a huge success raising $23,770!

2024 Pam Richardson & Angie Pross & LLS

On March 16, 2024, the St. Patrick’s Day Party with a Purpose was more than just an annual fundraising event—it was our first official event hosted by Celebrate for Good Inc as a nonprofit organization.

The event was held in memory of friend Pam Richardson benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). During the initial planning phase Shannon learned that another young mother with 3 small children was battling Acute Myloid Lymphoma (AML). The same blood cancer that took Pam’s life. With the support of Angie and her family, the event purpose expanded to include support for Angie Pross. The team set a bullish goal of $25,000, but with the incredible support of family, friends, numerous volunteers and sponsors the event raised $41,535—far surpassing expectations and proving what we can do when we lead with our hearts and take action in support of others.

Sadly Angie lost her battle on October 30, 2024 after a long and fearless fight. The loss hit the C4G team hard, but Angie’s tenacity, optimism, courage and willingness to share her journey with inspired and shaped our new vision and mission. Check our our Heart & Hope Fund to help more mother’s like Angie.

Celebrate For Good Inc was established as a registered 501(c) 3 non-profit (EIN:93-4466609) in the fall of 2023 as Shannon and team prepared for their 2024 event.

What began as a neighborhood house party has grown into the vision and mission of a couple women passionate about their community and giving back.

“The best part about Celebrate For Good events is that each one is an opportunity to educate ourselves and our community and inspire giving. I learn something about myself and others every time and I come away wanting to do more. And that is a beautiful thing.”
